CHARTER
The Starburst Journal Club (SBJC) consists of primarily graduate
student and postdoctoral astronomers at Johns Hopkins University and
the Space Telescope Science Institute. Our aim is to keep up
to date with the scientific literature on starbursts, and discuss
recent developments. This is accomplished by compiling and
distributing a list of recent publications (and preprints), and
discussing one article in detail every other week, or so. This
discussion is held every first and third (and fifth) Monday of the
month at noon in room 511 of the Bloomberg building on the JHU campus.
Non members are welcome to participate in SBJC meetings. However due
to the limited seating (Room 511 seats 17) and a desire to "keep it
small" we are not advertising the meetings.
The SBJC meetings are relaxed and informal. Many of us bring lunch to
the venue. Presentations are without props, except for the paper in
question (and notes, etc...). The presenter and many in the audience
may have little prior knowledge of the topic they are discussing.
Therefore "stupid questions" are encouraged.
